Yours?
My favorite book is To Kill A Mockingbird. (My daughter’s name is Scout.)
It has been my favorite since I read it in the 9th grade. I love that the reader is drawn in by a child narrator (Scout). It is through that child’s eyes that the reader sees the simplicity of right and wrong in situations made complex by adults. I love the three dimensional, complex characters who are so authentic.
Before that my favorite book was pretty much anything by Judy Blume. I loved her books when I was young. She seemed to write young girls so well. The characters were so real to me at that age. I still love her books.
What was your favorite? What is your favorite now? What did you love about books as a child?
To Kill A Mockingbird, children’s books, Judy Blume

Escape to Witch Mountain by Alexander Key (and most everything else he wrote I enjoyed). I still adore that book and the feeling that it brings with it. It says - there are good people in the world who will accept you as you are.

I very much loved any book that dealt with a young girl facing adversity. My two favorites, that I can still go back and read with the same enthusiasm, are “Island of the Blue Dolphins” and “Anne of Green Gables”. (I loved the entire Anne series.) I also loved Roald Dahl books, and love reading them alongside the Roald Dahl’s Revolting Recipes cookbook.. too much fun!

I love all the books everyone has named (a reading-glutton, that’s me) but “To Kill a Mockingbird” is as close to perfect as any book I’ve ever read. My book has no covers and almost no spine: that’s how often I’ve read it.
