War of Words Wednesday: Books to Film
Okay, I’m tweaking the War of Words Wednesday a little bit today… Instead of offering a couple of choices, I’m asking an open-ended question.
This summer, a number of films based on books are being released: Harry Potter and Nancy Drew to name two. So, my question to you is…
What children’s book would you like to see most made into a film?

Well, it’s a little difficult to think of one that hasn’t been made into a film.
As far as re-makes go - I’d like to see someone remake Madeline, this time without the “orphan” thing, fake french accents and/or knees to the sensitive area.

I loved Cam Jansen as a kid. I don’t know that a full out feature-length movie would work, but perhaps, or a series even!

Since Sally haiku-ed (is that a word?) Fancy Nancy, I’m going to suggest that. I think it could be cute.

There were a couple of YA books that I used to love that would make good movies for the current climate … “Simon Pure” and “Grounding of Group Six” were both whimsical and well-written, and would be great movies.
“Don’t Care High” by Gordon Korman would also be great. And there was this wild series of books from Britain about the Bagthorpe family, I can’t remember who wrote them, but they were hysterical and could be a great movie.

Encyclopedia Brown was mentioned around the water cooler…
And can I PLEASE star in Fancy Nancy? Please, please, please?

Justine Larbalestier’s trilogy. I know it’s young adult, but I *so* want to see it on film!

I am a big Junie B. Jones fan. My kids get mad at me because I always take her away and read her myself before they get they get the chance. I think they could do some cute movies with her.

Ooh Encyclopedia Brown…! Who would play him? I think the little kid from Malcolm who played Dewey would be cool.

Hmm, I’m a little torn, but I’d have to say the Penrod books by Booth Tarkington would make a great movie, as would some of the early Tom Swift books. I was a huge Three Investigators fan as well, which apparently didn’t work so well as a movie.
