“Slam” dunk?

Penguin Young Readers Group has announced that Nick Hornby, New York Times-bestselling author of such books as High Fidelity, About a Boy
and A Long Way Down
, will publish his first novel for young adults.
The book, Slam, tells the story of a young boy whose world is turned upside down in a life-altering moment. The main character, Sam, falls hard for a pretty girl and ultimately finds his way through conversations with a larger-than-life poster of his idol, champion skater Tony Hawk.
The hardcover edition of the book will be released in October 2007. A paperback edition will follow in 2008.

Hornsby has a great writing style - and his characters often have maturity issues, so it’s probably not a stretch for him to write about an adolescent boy. I’m wondering if Tony Hawk will play himself in the movie…due out in 2009?
