Ramona the Pest by Beverly Cleary

It was the happiest day of Ramona’s life! She was starting Kindergarten. She loved her teacher, Ms. Binney, and could not wait fo r the adventures Kindergarten would hold. Kindergarten was NOT everything Ramona hoped it would be. There was confusion and misunderstandings. Ramona does the only thing she knows to do…she drops out.

This is a wonderful book to read to your Kindergartener or the reminisce over with an older child.

[...] Ronda over on Tiny Treasury has recently done a whole series of posts about different Ramona books by Beverly Cleary. I am particularly fond of Ramona the Pest. (I blame Ramona for my love of “boinging” long curly hair.) Which is your favorite Ramona book? Did you know that Beverly Cleary’s website contains a map of Ramona’s neighborhood? I also found Mrs. Cleary’s 1938 UC Berkely yearbook picture shown here. Not that long ago, Portland, Oregon (home of the real Klickitat Street) honored Mrs. Cleary with the construction of the Beverly Cleary Sculpture Garden which isn’t far away from Klickitat Street itself. By the way, Beverly Cleary was born in 1916, and she is still with us. So, enjoy her books and check out Ronda’s reviews. I wonder what box my Ramona books are in? [...]

About Tiny Treasury

It's impossible to get rid of a bad children's book once it has entered your house. In fact, if history teaches us anything, it's that it will become a favorite. Your child will cling to it, sleep with it and worst yet, require you to read it over and over again.

At tinytreasury.com, our mission is separate the good from the bad. If I can save one parent from having to read a rhyming book about dancing pigs, then I'll know I've done my job.
