Math Fair Blues
By Sue Kassirer, Illustrated by Jerry Smath

Seth and his rock band perform at the school math fair and are surprised to find they are one of the prize winners.
Seth and his band perform at their school math fair as the “2-D Rockers,” donning T-shirts decorated with colorful geometric shapes. In the excitement of making their costumes, they forget to do a project for the fair, but their arty apparel saves the day. Smath’s colorful cartoons are lively and appealing. After reading this title, youngsters will recognize circles, rectangles, and triangles, and may even be inspired to look for these shapes in objects around them. The book ends with an instructional chart that reviews and elaborates on the concepts introduced. The back covers suggest additional Math Matters books covering a wide range of math concepts. A wonderful series of books for your child’s early math education. Books range from PreK to 3rd grade level. A good introduction to mathematics.
