Last Books of Christmas

by

We checked out a lot of Christmas themed books for Maegan over the holiday school break. Believe it or not we just returned the last two Saturday. Finally. The last two were worth saving though.

First up, Santa’s Little Helper, by Angela McAllister illustrated by Daniel Howarth:

santas-little-helperSnowball is playing hide-and-seek on Christmas Eve and finds the perfect hiding place. However, he falls asleep. When he wakes up, Snowball discovers that he is in Santa’s sleigh. He gets a wonderful surprise when Santa Claus finds him hidden in the sleigh. Santa needs his help on the most important night of the year. It is a Christmas that Snowball will never forget.

Angela McAllister has written over thirty children’s books, many of which she also illustrated. She lives in a sixteenth century cottage on the edge of
Dorset Downs in Hampshire, England.

Daniel Howarth has illustrated many picture books including I Love You Always and Forever and The Chicken Who Saved Christmas. He lives in Devon, England with his wife and two children.

Then Little Red’s Christmas Story, by Sarah Ferguson The Duchess of York illustrated by Sam Williams:

Dear boys and girls, Here is another story about Little Red and her friends — Little Blue, Roany, and Gino. This one takes place on Christmas Eve and is full of magical fun and excitement. The merry gang meets Father Christmas in the woods and has a very eventful evening. I hope that you enjoy reading this Little Red adventure — I wrote it just for you!

It is Christmas Eve at Buttercup Cottage.

Little Red and her friends set off on their trip to Christmas Tree Wood, where their favorite fir tree grows. Along the way they deliver sugary cinnamon sticks to the mouse family and delicious shortbread to the robins. But as they approach the wood, they find that Little Red’s friend, Santa Claus, has a big problem: A sick reindeer has left him with only seven to pull his sleigh! Thanks to Little Red’s sack of smiles, and a little help from Roany the Pony, Little Blue, and the rest of the gang, all of the children on Santa’s list get just what they asked for and Little Red is back at Buttercup Cottage in time to spend the holiday with her dearest friends. Don’t miss this delightful story — it’s Christmaspuddingtastic!

About Tiny Treasury

It's impossible to get rid of a bad children's book once it has entered your house. In fact, if history teaches us anything, it's that it will become a favorite. Your child will cling to it, sleep with it and worst yet, require you to read it over and over again.

At tinytreasury.com, our mission is separate the good from the bad. If I can save one parent from having to read a rhyming book about dancing pigs, then I'll know I've done my job.
